Who We Are
A home should feel decided, not assembled.
Most Austin homeowners tell us the same story: a beautiful rendering, a budget that quietly grew, and a schedule nobody could explain. Alder & Vine exists to end that story.
We are a design-build studio for custom homes, whole-home remodels and additions. One team draws it, prices it and builds it, in honest materials: white oak, Texas limestone, lime plaster, blackened steel and unlacquered brass. You get one point of contact, one written scope and a weekly update you can actually read.

Three ways to build the house you actually want

New Custom Homes
From the first sketch on your lot to the day you get the keys. We design around your land, your light and the way your family really lives, then put the price in writing before a single footing is poured.

Whole-Home Remodels
Keep the neighborhood, the trees and the address you love, and replace everything that doesn't work. Structure, layout, kitchens, baths and finishes, planned as one project instead of six.
Reimagine your home →
Additions & Suites
A primary suite, a garden room or a second story that looks like it was always part of the house, matched in stone, wood and proportion so no one can find the seam.
Add the space you need →The Details
We slow down for the parts you'll touch every day.
Plaster troweled by hand and left to cure properly. Oak chosen board by board. Steel windows set true, brass allowed to age. It is slower than the shortcuts, and it is why our homes keep feeling right long after move-in day.

Three promises we put in writing
One scope, in writing
Your scope, allowances and schedule are written down before we start. If something changes, you see the change order and the reason first, never after the invoice.
Design and build under one roof
The people who draw your home are the people who build it. No finger-pointing between architect and contractor, and no beautiful plans that can't be built for the budget.
A weekly update you'll read
Every Friday: what got done, what's next and what needs your decision, with photos. You always know where your home stands without having to ask.

What Clients Say
Homes people love living in.
"We'd been burned on a remodel before. Here, every change came with a number and a reason before anything happened. The house came out exactly as drawn."
"The Friday updates were the best part. Photos, decisions needed, next steps. I never once had to chase anyone for an answer."
"Our addition looks like it was always part of the house. Friends assume it's original, which is the best compliment we could ask for."
"They cared about the plaster and the oak as much as the structure. You can feel it the moment you walk in the front door."

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How does your pricing work?
We price in stages. After a design and preliminary-budget phase you receive a written scope with clear allowances. If anything changes along the way, you approve it in writing before the work happens, so the final number never surprises you.
How long does a custom home or remodel take?
It depends on size, site and permitting, so we won't quote a number before we've seen the property. In your consultation we map a realistic timeline and call out the steps that most often cause delays, like permits and long-lead materials, up front.
Do I need to hire my own architect?
No. Design and build live under one roof, so the design is shaped by your budget from day one. If you already have an architect or a set of plans, we're glad to build from them or collaborate.
Can we stay in the house during a remodel?
Sometimes. Kitchen-and-bath scopes can often be phased around you, while whole-home remodels usually can't. We'll tell you plainly which one your project is before you commit to anything.
Which parts of Austin do you serve?
Austin and the surrounding area. Tell us where the property is in the form above and we'll confirm quickly whether it's a fit.
